Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson (born March 9, 1990) was born in Compton, California, United States. He is an American rapper. He is professionally known as YG (short for Young Gangsta). He made his mark in the music industry with his debu t single "Toot It and Boot It" featuring Ty Dolla Sign in 2010, which peaked at number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100. This success led to his signing with Def Jam Recordings, and he subsequently released several mixtapes such as The Real 4Fingaz, Just Re'd Up, Just Re'd Up 2, and 4 Hunnid Degreez.

In 2013, YG signed a deal with Young Jeezy's imprint, CTE World, and released the single "My Nigga" featuring Jeezy and Rich Homie Quan, which reached number 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also released the singles "Left, Right" featuring DJ Mustard and "Who Do You Love?" featuring Drake. These singles led up to the release of his debut studio album, My Krazy Life, in 2014. The album was released by Pu$haz Ink, CTE World, and Def Jam, receiving critical acclaim and commercial success.
