Sia Lyrics - Discography

569 Australian Singer & Songwriter

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (born December 18, 1975) was born in Adelaide, South Australia. She is an Australian singer and songwriter and animal rights activist. She is professionally known as Sia. She started her music career in the mid-1990s as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp.

Following the band's disbandment in 1997, Sia released her debut studio album, OnlySee, in Australia. She then moved to London and provided vocals for the British duo Zero 7. In 2001, Sia released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, followed by her third, Colour the Small One, in 2004.

In 2005, Sia relocated to New York City and embarked on a tour across the United States. Her fourth and fifth studio albums, Some People Have Real Problems and We Are Born, were both released in 2008 and 2010 respectively, and were certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association. They also received wider recognition than her earlier works. However, Sia felt uncomfortable with the growing fame and decided to take a hiatus from performing, focusing on songwriting instead. She produced successful collaborations with David Guetta on "Titanium," Rihanna on "Diamonds," and Flo Rida on "Wild Ones."

In 2014, Sia made a breakthrough as a solo artist with her sixth studio album, 1000 Forms of Fear, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album generated the top-ten single "Chandelier," along with a trilogy of music videos co-directed by Sia and featuring child dancer Maddie Ziegler. Since then, Sia has worn a wig to obscure her face in public to protect her privacy. Her seventh studio album, This Is Acting, released in 2016, produced her first Billboard Hot 100 number one single, "Cheap Thrills." That year, Sia also began her Nostalgic for the Present Tour, which incorporated dance performances by Ziegler and others, as well as other elements of performance art. In 2017, Sia released her eighth studio album, Everyday Is Christmas, which was reissued in 2018 with three additional tracks.

Sia has also written many songs for films, and in early 2021, she directed her first feature film, titled Music, which was released alongside an album titled Music – Songs from and Inspired by the Motion Picture. As an animal rights advocate, Sia uses her platform to raise awareness and has received numerous accolades for her contributions to the music industry. In 2021, a laneway in Adelaide city centre was renamed Sia Furler Lane, and a mural titled She Imagined Buttons was painted on a nearby wall to commemorate her 2011 performance in Adelaide. Sia holds the record for the most entries on the APRA billion streams list, with 15 entries as of October 2022.
