Andrae Hugh Sutherland (born July 19, 1988) was born in Jamaica. He is a Jamaican Dancehall Artist. He is professionally known as Popcaan. He is growing up in Portmore, in a tough area known as Gangsta City, he faced many challenges. Due to the difficult environment, he had to leave school early. His stage name "Popcaan" was given to him by a close friend, Scumpy, who tragically lost his life to street violence. Popcaan has released several popular international singles, such as "Only Man She Want," "Everything Nice," "Ova Dweet," "El Chapo," and "Family." He has also worked with many global artists, including Drake, Jamie xx, Pusha T, Giggs, Matoma, Wale, Gorillaz, and Davido.

In 2008, Popcaan’s life changed when he joined Vybz Kartel’s Gaza Music Empire. Two years later, he gained international attention with his hit song "Clarks," a tribute to the popular shoe brand, which he performed with Vybz Kartel. This success opened doors for him, and in 2013, he signed with Mixpak Records, releasing his first studio album, Where We Come From. This album helped solidify his place in the music industry.

In 2016, Popcaan took another significant step in his career by signing with Drake's record label, OVO Sound, along with Warner Records. His second album with Mixpak, titled Forever, was released in 2018 and further showcased his unique style. Around the same time, he also appeared in the movie The Intent 2: The Come Up, marking his debut in acting.

In December 2019, Popcaan released Vanquish, his first album with OVO Sound. His fourth album, Fixtape, came out in August 2020 and featured collaborations with Drake on tracks like "All I Need" and "Twist & Turn" featuring PartyNextDoor. Later that year, he partnered with Preme, an OVO affiliate, to release the EP Link Up, which included features from Wiz Khalifa, Davido, Beam, and French Montana.

Popcaan’s fifth album, Great Is He, was released on January 27, 2023. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, continuing his streak of success and further solidifying his place as a major figure in reggae and dancehall music.
