Michael David Rosenberg (born May 17, 1984) was born in Brighton, England, United Kingdom. He is an English singer-songwriter who creates indie folk music. He is professionally known as Passenger. From 2003 to 2009, Rosenberg was the lead singer of a band called Passenger. When the band broke up, he decided to keep using the name Passenger for his solo music career.
Passenger is best known for his 2012 hit song "Let Her Go." This song became very popular and reached the number one spot in 16 countries. The music video for "Let Her Go" has over 3.6 billion views on YouTube, making it the most-watched Australian video on the platform. This is because Rosenberg was living in Australia when the song was released, and the video was filmed at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville.
In 2014, "Let Her Go" was nominated for the Brit Award for British Single of the Year. Additionally, Rosenberg won the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work for this song.
Rosenberg is a very active singer-songwriter and has released 14 studio albums so far. One of these albums was with the band Passenger, and the other 13 are solo albums. His most recent album, "Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed," came out in April 2022.
