Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (born September 29, 1994) was born in New Jersey, United States. She is a rising American singer and songwriter. She is professionally known as Halsey. She started her career in music when she signed with Astralwerks in 2014 and later that same year, she released her debut EP, Room 93.

The following year, she released her first studio album, Badlands, which earned her critical acclaim and commercial success. The album was certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with its tracks "Colors" and "Gasoline" also achieving the same status.
