Georgia Claire Flipo (born July 23, 2000) was born in St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia. She is an Australian singer, songwriter, producer, drummer, and musician. She is professionally known as G Flip. Flipo's songwriting process heavily involves drums and percussion, although they are now a proficient multi-instrumentalist.
Before embarking on a solo career, Flipo was a session drummer and occasional backup vocalist for various Melbourne music acts. However, in 2017, they locked themselves in their bedroom, writing and recording music, leading to the release of their debut single, "About You," in February 2018. The track was uploaded to Triple J Unearthed, and it received rave reviews, leading to an invitation to perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas, for their first solo show.
Flipo's second single, "Killing My Time," followed in May 2018, and by November of that year, they were nominated for a J Award as Unearthed Artist of the Year. They also received the ARIA Emerging Artist Scholarship, cementing their place as one of Australia's brightest musical talents.
In December 2018, Flipo performed at the ABC's "The Night is Yours" New Year's Eve Celebration at the Sydney Opera House, singing "Proud Mary" and "Blame It on the Boogie." The same month, their song "About You" was featured in Season 2, Episode 10 of The Bold Type.
In July 2019, G Flip won Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year at the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) Awards. Their debut studio album, About Us, was released on 30 August 2019.
Flipo has collaborated with renowned producers such as Ariel Rechtshaid, who praised their songwriting, authentic voice, and production skills. Their talent was recognized in the Triple J Hottest 100, with "Drink Too Much" ranking at number 6, "Lover" at number 58, "Stupid" at number 66, and "I Am Not Afraid" at number 77 in the 2019 countdown.
In 2021, Flipo performed in Troye Sivan's live version of the song "In a Dream," showcasing their drumming skills in the accompanying video. They continued to make waves in the music scene, releasing a new single called "Waste of Space" on International Non-Binary People's Day in July 2022. The track is about non-binary gender identity, reflecting Flipo's commitment to raising awareness and supporting marginalized communities through their music.
