Sean Michael Leonard Anderson (born August 8, 1997) was born in Santa Monica, California, United States. He is an American rapper, rose from the streets of Detroit, Michigan, to become one of the most influential figures in contemporary rap. He is professionally known as Big Sean. His journey began when he crossed paths with the iconic Kanye West, forging a connection that would shape his career. In 2007, he inked a deal with West's label, GOOD Music, under the Def Jam Recordings umbrella, setting the stage for his meteoric rise.
Big Sean's breakthrough came with the release of his third mixtape, "Finally Famous Vol. 3: Big," in 2010. This project not only showcased his lyrical prowess but also propelled him into the spotlight. The following year marked the release of his debut studio album, "Finally Famous," which stormed to number three on the Billboard 200 chart. Hits like "My Last," featuring Chris Brown, "Marvin & Chardonnay," featuring Kanye West and Roscoe Dash, and the infectious "Dance (Ass)," remixed with Nicki Minaj, solidified his position in the rap pantheon.
Continuing his upward trajectory, Big Sean dropped his sophomore album, "Hall of Fame," in 2013, matching the success of his debut effort. The album's standout track, "Beware," featuring Lil Wayne and Jhené Aiko, earned triple platinum certification, further cementing his reputation as a hitmaker.
The pinnacle of his career came with the release of "Dark Sky Paradise" in 2015. Debuting at the top of the US Billboard 200, the album spawned the massive hit "I Don't Fuck with You," featuring E-40, which achieved octuple platinum status. Other singles like "Blessings," featuring Drake and Kanye West, and "One Man Can Change the World," featuring John Legend and Kanye West, also earned platinum certifications, showcasing Big Sean's enduring appeal.
His subsequent albums, "I Decided" in 2017 and "Detroit 2" in 2020, continued to dominate the charts, solidifying his status as a rap heavyweight. However, in the wake of "Detroit 2," Big Sean chose to part ways with Kanye West and GOOD Music, signaling a new chapter in his illustrious career.
