"Vultures 2" is the second studio album by the American hip-hop duo ¥$, composed of Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign. Released independently on August 3, 2024, through Kanye's YZY brand, the album arrived as a surprise, following some delays. "Vultures 2" builds on the legacy of its predecessor, showcasing the unique synergy between Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign while featuring a star-studded roster of collaborators. It features an impressive lineup of guest appearances, including Kanye’s daughters North and Chicago, Ty Dolla Sign’s brother Big TC, along with artists like Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, Future, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Desiigner, 070 Shake, and more.
The release of "Vultures 2" was highly anticipated, especially after the success of "Vultures 1," which dropped in February 2024 and quickly hit number one on the Billboard 200. Kanye initially planned to release the second installment on March 8, as part of a trilogy, but the album faced multiple delays. Despite this, the duo kept fans engaged with snippets on TikTok and Instagram, and a private listening party was held on the original release date.
Kanye made headlines by announcing that "Vultures 2" would be sold for $20 on his Yeezy website rather than being released on streaming platforms initially, stating a desire to give artists more control over their work. After teasing several release dates and hosting another listening event in South Korea, the album finally dropped on August 3, 2024.
The album was made available through an unlisted YouTube livestream on Kanye's channel and was also released on Tidal. A day before its official release, the lead single "Slide" was released on streaming platforms, alongside an updated cover for the album. Though the album had an unconventional release, it eventually made its way to popular platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, allowing a wider audience to experience the long-awaited project.
