"Shawn" is the fifth studio album by Shawn Mendes, Set to be released on October 18, 2024, through Island Records. This will be his first album since 2020’s Wonder. Mendes took a break from music after canceling his Wonder: The World Tour in 2022 to focus on his mental health. He opened up about struggling with anxiety and needing time to find himself. During this period, he shared that entering the studio made him feel panicked, and he needed space to recover and rebuild his mental well-being.

After taking a break, Mendes returned in 2023 with new music, starting with the song “What the Hell Are We Dying For?”, which addresses the climate crisis. He began teasing new songs, including “Nobody Knows,” and made a guest appearance at an Ed Sheeran concert, where they performed together. In July 2024, Mendes announced his new album Shawn, calling it his most personal work yet. He worked with several collaborators, including Scott Harris and Eddie Benjamin, to create the album. Two singles, “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough,” were released in August 2024 to build anticipation for the full album.

To promote the album, Mendes is performing intimate concerts across the U.S., marking his return to the stage. Mendes describes this project as a reflection of his journey over the past few years and a tribute to the support of his family and friends. This album highlights his growth, both as an artist and as a person, focusing on emotional honesty and connection. It’s a significant milestone in his career, blending his musical talent with deeper personal themes.
